As so often happens hobbies can turn into full time businesses.
Moon Shadows Estate Winery and Maple Moon are no exceptions.
It all started as a small maple syrup operation and gradually
grew into what is now a popular gift store and Haliburton
Ontario's only winery. Here you can find not only maple
syrup in a selection of sizes, a variety of tasty maple
products, a large selection of unique gifts for everyone
but also a wide variety of fine Ontario
fruit wines.
"He was so impressed with your
wine that he is going to use them for part of our Christmas
gifts for our corporate clients. Hopefully they
will enjoy them as much as we have."
Sandi
From the earlier years of their maple syrup production came
the concept of maple wine and from there Moon Shadows Estate
Winery was born. It is not only Haliburton’s first winery
but also Ontario's first maple winery, opening its doors
in July 2005. Using maple syrup in the fermentation process,
this local winery offers customers 20+ unique fruit and
maple wines, from dry to sweet.
Among their selection of wines, Golden Maple, Cran Maple
and Maple Sugar all feature the heavenly taste of maple
and are among the most popular. As well, a variety of grape
wines are available.
Wine tasting is offered daily at the tasting bar and winery
tours can be arranged upon request.
"I discovered your winery last
weekend, and bought 3 bottles while there. It is absolutely
fabulous and I wish I had got more"
Holly
During your visit to the Highlands drop by for a unique
shopping and wine tasting experience.
The Moon Shadows Estate Winery bottle label was created
by local artist Wendy Wood. Wendy has the Haliburton Highlands
at her doorstep. It is this inspiration that helps her create
her paintings and handwovens.
Traveling around the county with sketch book and camera,
Wendy is able to bring a piece of the Highlands back to
her studio. She then recreates that experience with oil
on canvas or with fiber on the loom.
Wendy’s work can be seen at her home/studio at 1255 Peterson
Rd., Carnarvon. Phone or email
first to make sure she is home, 705-489-3793.
